FOUR JPS EDUCATORS JOIN MDE TEACHER COUNCIL
Tamora McConnell of Power APAC, Margaret Price of Galloway, Dr. Doris Stocks of Isable and Dorothy Straughter of Van Winkle have joined the Mississippi Teacher Council.

COMPULSORY SCHOOL ATTENDANCE REQUIREMENTS FOR SCHOOL-AGED CHILDREN
As the new school year begins, the Mississippi Department of Education released a statement reminding parents about the law governing school attendance.

NEW ADMINISTRATIVE LEADERS ANNOUNCED IN JPS
Marc Rowe will lead the Office of Child Nutrition and Dr. Nicole Edwards Evans will lead the Office of Data and Accountability.

JPS EXTENDS SUPPORT TO IMMIGRANT FAMILIES
Jackson Public Schools is committed to educating children regardless of religion, race, ethnicity, country of origin, or a student’s immigration status.

JPS NEW PRINCIPALS FOR 2019-2020
14 new administrators joined Team JPS as school principals for the 2019-2020 school year. Learn who these new instructional leaders are.

ATHLETICS

General admission tickets for local JPS high school football games are available for purchase through the GoFan Tickets app or by visiting GoFan.co/JacksonPublicSchools .

To purchase digital tickets:
  • Download the app from your devices' app store or visit our GoFan site.
  • Create a free account using your email address.
  • Purchase your tickets with a credit card.
  • Have them redeemed by the ticket worker at the GoFan gate at all JPS high school home football games.

JPS Athletics will livestream select football games during the 2019-2020 season. Kick off time is 7 p.m. for all games.

JPS regular season sports passes are available to purchase at the JPS Athletics Office located at 101 Dr. Dennis Holloway Drive. Prices are listed below. All Sports Season Passes and Employee Passes allow admission to all regular season middle and high school sporting events for the school year.

  • All Sports Season Pass: $150
  • All Sports Season Pass for Students: $75 for high school students. $50 for middle school students
  • Employee Pass: $30
  • High School Football Season Pass: $45
  • Middle School Football Season Pass: $30
BOARD HIGHLIGHTS
August 6, 2019
The Pledge of Allegiance was led by Gregory Jones Jr. , a first-grader at Barr Elementary School. This high-performing scholar enjoys reading, and he's a critical thinker. He is a member of Anderson United Methodist Church, and an active member of Boy Scouts of America. He also enjoys playing football for the South Jackson 49ers. He is the son of Gregory Jones Sr. and Bettina Jones.
Rev. Arthur Sutton delivered the Words of Encouragement . Rev. Sutton is the Pastor of Progressive Missionary Baptist Church and serves as a dropout prevention coordinator for Jackson Public Schools. Sutton is a graduate of Forest Hill High School and Jackson State University. He is active in various civic organizations and is the current president of the Forest Hill High School PTA.

The Pledge of Allegiance was led by Robin Crudup , a third-grader at Lester Elementary. She is a member of New Horizon Church International where her grandfather is the pastor. Robin enjoys cooking with her mom, reading, shopping, gymnastics, playing on her tablet, and most of all, eating candy. Her parents are Ronnie Crudup Jr. and Andrea Crudup.
Vondaris Gordon delivered the Words of Encouragement . He joined the William Winter Institute of Racial Reconciliation as Youth Engagement coordinator. He attended the University of Mississippi and was involved in the first statewide Student Summit on Race. He has worked for one of Pepsi's top bottlers. He is the married father of two and a JPS parent.
