“A Marvelous Catch”

The Love Story Between Scotland and America

Monday, June 29 | 12:00 PM EST / 5:00 PM UK time

As the United States marks its 250th anniversary, join NTSUSA Executive Director Kirstin Gamble Bridier for a special talk exploring the American stories woven into National Trust for Scotland properties.

In “A Marvelous Catch”: The Love Story Between Scotland and America, Kirstin will look at the enduring connections between Scotland and the United States through the stories preserved at Trust places — from Culzean Castle’s connection to President Dwight D. Eisenhower to the love stories at the heart of Fyvie Castle and Canna House.

Together, these stories reveal how Scotland’s historic places are not only central to Scottish heritage, but also part of a wider transatlantic story shaped by friendship, memory, generosity, and shared cultural ties.

We hope you’ll join us for this special program celebrating the historic and heartfelt ties between Scotland and America.

Kirstin Gamble Bridier is the Executive Director of The National Trust for Scotland Foundation USA. She previously headed up corporate, government, and foundation giving for the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston and the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum, and was curator of education at the Nantucket Historical Association. Kirstin sits on the boards of the Boston Preservation Alliance, Friends of An Taisce, and Scots in New England. She is a graduate of Smith College and holds an M.Sc. in historic preservation from the University of Pennsylvania.
