The Del Mar Foundation Presents
A Virtual Coffee with Captain Herbert Taft
Commander, North Coastal Sheriff’s Station
Tuesday, September 22, 2020 | 6:30 PM
via Livestream
The Pandemic has caused the cancellation of the popular “Coffee with the Sheriff” and has prevented Captain Taft from enjoying his informal chats with Del Mar residents while he eats his bag lunch on the Town Center terrace.

A key to the good relationship between Del Mar residents and the Sheriff’s Department is the frequent, open communication. Register to attend this Virtual Coffee with the Sheriff and submit questions about what concerns you. Then on September 22nd at 6:30 PM join the discussion while you enjoy your favorite beverage.
How much do you know about the Del Mar Police Department?
Del Mar does not have a Police Department. The City contracts with the county Sheriff’s Department for law enforcement, including patrol of our streets, crime prevention services, and a wide array of other law enforcement services. Del Mar, Solana Beach, Encinitas and the unincorporated areas of Rancho Santa Fe and Fairbanks Ranch are served by The North Coastal Station.

Captain Herbert Taft has commanded the North Coastal Station for two years and in that time our community has seen a lot of change. Captain Taft will discuss the role of the Sheriff’s Department in Del Mar, his goals and performance metrics, how COVID has affected policing in Del Mar and unique problems resulting from the Pandemic, and then he will answer your submitted questions.
The livestream can be viewed live by clicking here at 6:30 PM on September 22nd.
Registered guests will receive a reminder with the livestream link ahead of the event.

In order to facilitate a dialogue, questions must be submitted in advance. Questions which are duplicative will be combined. The deadline for submitting questions is Friday, September 18 at 5:00 PM.

Special Note: If you live in 92014 but outside the City of Del Mar, your law enforcement is provided by the San Diego Police Department. Your attendance is welcome. However, questions relating to the SDPD will not be entertained during this event.

Our mission: to promote civic pride and cohesiveness, acquire and preserve open space, improve beaches and parklands, raise and grant funds, and sponsor diverse cultural programs and community events in Del Mar. As we work to inform and inspire the Del Mar community, we welcome your participation and support.
