| | MAYOR BASS SIGNALS STRONG SUPPORT OF THE PORT OF LOS ANGELES AMID UNCERTAIN FEDERAL TRADE POLICY | | On Wednesday, June 4, Mayor Karen Bass convened a roundtable meeting with key goods movement industry leaders, labor leaders, and local business leaders to hear directly from them about the effect that tariffs are having on the Port of Los Angeles and the broader business environment. Mayor Bass signaled her strong support for the Port of Los Angeles during this period of economic uncertainty, noting that Los Angeles remains open for business and will continue to be a stable and reliable partner. | ROYAL CARIBBEAN BRINGS FIRST QUANTUM CLASS SHIP TO LOS ANGELES |
Beginning June 5, Royal Caribbean's Ovation of the Seas will offer three distinct Baja California itineraries including three-night sailings to Ensenada, five-night cruises featuring an overnight stay in Cabo San Lucas and six-night voyages with an overnight in Cabo San Lucas and a port call in Ensenada.
Ovation will operate alongside Navigator of the Seas, which currently sails three-, four- and seven-night Baja California itineraries from Los Angeles through October 2026. The addition of Ovation represents an expansion of Royal Caribbean's West Coast capacity and itinerary options for travel advisors' clients seeking Mexico's Pacific coast destinations.
The ship features the North Star observation capsule, which provides 360-degree ocean views, and the robot-staffed Bionic Bar among its technology-focused amenities.

Among the take-aways from LA Fleet Week 2025 was a new ship-tour system that organizers said cut down on lines and wait times.
“We moved a lot of people,” said David Canfield, chief information officer for the Battleship Iowa, adding this year’s four-day LA Fleet Week saw between 15,000 to 16,000 tours of the four visiting ships.

AltaSea’s vision for making Los Angeles an international sustainable blue economy leader has centered around refurbishing Berth 58 and other historic waterfront warehouses into co-working spaces. The facilities will provide access to the research labs, offices, and dock spaces that are necessary to ocean-based research and business but often prohibitively expensive to obtain.
