As the New Year begins in Boston, the Northeastern Track & Field Team is setting their sights on the fast approaching indoor and outdoor season. Last year, we hosted the first annual Joe Donahue Games, and I am excited to inform you that we are currently preparing to host the "Games" again in 2013. As we prepare to host this season's event, we would like to invite you to help support the Lustgarten Foundation for the research of pancreatic cancer and the Northeastern Track & Field and Cross Country program in the name of Joe Donahue.
As a former Northeastern student-athlete and coach, Coach Donahue's efforts made a lifelong impact on others by being a successful competitor and coach, you have the opportunity to continue his legacy through your support. We are writing to our friends and family asking for their participation to make it possible to support the fight against pancreatic cancer and our program with the Throw for Joe Challenge.
We hope that with your support, we will have opportunities to procure the necessary equipment for a productive 2012-2013 season, in addition to helping others with their fight against cancer. Our team is asking their families and friends to sponsor us by pledging per foot for the total amount of feet thrown by the Northeastern Track & Field Throws Corps.
Here's how it works:
Donate $.25 per foot x 100 feet = $25, $.50 per foot x 100 feet = $50, $1 per foot x 100 feet = $100...and so on. The Northeastern Throws Corps threw close to 500 feet in total at the Jay Carisella Invite in December.
The impact of your gift is crucial to the success of our program and to the success of the Lustgarten Foundation, and we are truly appreciative for any help you are able to give. Coach Donahue's impact on the Northeastern Track & Field and Cross Country program as an athlete and coach was felt among us all.
