Dear Parents,
It was so good to see the students back in the building on Monday! Prayerfully, we will be able to continue to offer the in-person option through December 18. The second quarter ends on January 15. Any students who have been distance learners for the entire 1st and 2nd quarters who wish to start in-person learning, must apply in the office. If there is not enough physical space in the classroom to accommodate an extra student, your child must remain home and reapply at the end of the third quarter. Students who were in person but chose to remain home during the weeks before Christmas may return as their desk is still in place. As always, we ask that you inform the office of any changes in your family’s plans.
Many parents have inquired about having Specials classes livestreamed (offered synchronously). After Christmas break, Mrs. Bartos will livestream art and music during the regular times on the students’ schedules. Next week she will test her new equipment on one or two classes to be able to go live to all classes in January. At this point the plan is to have the classroom teachers send out Mrs. Bartos’ links. We will not be able to livestream PE as we do not have the proper equipment. Distance students should continue to use this time to take a movement break away from their screens.
The December PTO meeting was held virtually on Monday night. While most of the activities that were to be held this year had to be canceled, members are working diligently on the planning to bring the events back next year. They need your help! PTO supports the school with activities ranging from buying Distillata water for the faculty, and funding the bussing for field trips, Great Lakes Theater, and school assemblies to Mother/Son, Father/Daughter activities and community get-togethers. Please watch for notices of meetings and become involved; since they are virtual, you never have to leave the comfort of your home. It is a great way to meet new people and be a part of a vibrant school community!
Currently there are no new reported cases of Covid-19. As always, please remember to inform the school should there be any changes in the health of your family or any instances of suspected exposure so that we may take effective action. Thank you for all you are doing to keep our school community safe!
Please continue to have those in the medical field and those affected by Covid-19 in your prayers.
Sincerely,
Mrs. Whiteley
