PRINCIPAL CORNER
Dear Parents,

Next week at this time we will be celebrating Christmas Eve! Even in these tough times it is a joyful reminder that our greatest gift is that God sent His Son to us. Let us remember and reflect upon Christ’s birth and know that as always, He is by our side.
On Tuesday evening we made the decision to transition the Junior High to distance learning. Although there was only one positive confirmed case in the sixth grade, we felt it best to isolate the floor and the four faculty members impacted. This was a very precautionary measure taken mainly because of the upcoming Christmas holiday. There have not been any more reports of cases in the Junior High and the rest of the school. Your children have been champs with their masks!
As a reminder, distance learning for all students will occur from Tuesday, January 5 through Friday, January 8. This tactic worked well after Thanksgiving and we expect the weeklong buffer will be helpful after Christmas. Tomorrow, Friday 12/18, is the day for K – 3 distance leaners to pick up all materials for that week from the office. The Junior High students collected their belongings yesterday and should have everything they need for January. If for some reason, you have not been able to pick up materials, please notify your classroom teacher. The school office is only open until 3pm today and tomorrow (12/18).
We are happy to announce that Art and Music classes will be offered synchronously starting January 5, 2021. Mrs. Bartos has tested her equipment, and all has run smoothly. Your child should report to these specials as they would any other class. They will be allotted a participation grade for attendance. We understand that you may not have the materials needed for art class, so you may need to improvise. I have acquired funding for the purchase of more equipment to possibly livestream Phys Ed. Stay tuned!
As stated above, there is one new reported cases of Covid-19. As always, please remember to inform the school should there be any changes in the health of your family or any instances of suspected exposure so that we may take effective action. Thank you for all you are doing to keep our school community safe!
Please continue to have those in the medical field and those affected by Covid-19 in your prayers. I hope your family can take these next two weeks to recharge and gear up for 2021!

Merry Christmas,
Mrs. Whiteley
