Dear Parents,
Now that Catholic Schools Week is over, teachers are turning their attention to celebrating Black History Month. Grades 5 through 8 will be working on a ‘Periodic Table’ display of famous African Americans in all walks of life and will display it in the school cafeteria. Each student will research a person on the Periodic Table and write a brief essay. The students will then read their essay over the school PA system at morning announcements. We look forward to hearing their inspiring stories.
During Monday’s PTO meeting, it was brought to my attention that the notifications regarding the Covid shot plan for the faculty sent through Constant Contact were not being received by all parents. Typically, Constant Contact is used for important emails that I need to send out as a stand-alone, so that it does not get lost in other communications. I will now post news in both the Chronicle and Constant Contact in the hopes that everyone will receive the information.
Vaccine Update: The faculty and staff have the opportunity to receive the first dose on Saturday, February 20, and the second dose on Saturday, March 13. Some parish schools plan to be remote prior to their scheduled day so that all teachers will be healthy for the shot. At this time, I do not plan to close, unless we begin to see a breakout of infectious illnesses. I respectfully urge you not to send your child to school with what may seem like a minor case of the sniffles so that the faculty and staff will be able to be vaccinated. Please watch for Constant Contact emails for updates that may occur before next Thursday.
If you review your emails and have never received anything through Constant Contact, please notify the office immediately so that we may verify your email information is correct.
Speaking of the PTO meeting, it was such a pleasure to see so many in
attendance! The PTO is actively seeking new officers to fill the positions of Co-President and Treasurer. Please consider getting involved and actively participate in this fine organization. For more information, contact Jeanne Gordon. Our school and PTO need you! Even though the passage below was printed last week, it still holds relevance with regard to the families of Communion of Saints and the PTO volunteers!
“For as in one body we have many members, and the members do not all have the same function, so we, though many, are one body in Christ, and individually members one of another.” Romans 12:4-5
Let us continue to pray for those affected by the pandemic and for front line
workers who make sacrifices daily for the sake of others.
Sincerely,
Mrs. Whiteley
