Special Coffee Hour at Salvatore's

Sunday, June 11 at 10am, COS will host a special coffee hour at Salvatore's (525 W Arlington Place). This is an open invitation for COSers from all services to get a feel for where we will be gathering for Sunday worship during the construction phase of our new Community Center later this year. Maybe you've never been to Salvatore's, or maybe you're curious how we'll offer Sunday services during our time away from COS. This is your chance to explore and find out, over some coffee and cake, so don't miss it! 10:45am service will still be held in COS with a regular coffee hour following. Please contact the office with any questions.

University of Chicago Graduation

Join COSers in celebrating our own Charlotte Long, Shannon Page, and Natalie Delsemme as they graduate with their Masters of Divinity degrees from UChicago! Graduation is on Friday, June 2nd in Rockefeller Chapel. Plan to arrive at 12pm for the 12:30pm ceremony (and sit on the righthand side for the best view).

Call for Vestry Service

Now is an important and exciting time for the parish we all love. As you know, we're working to: 1) build a new Community Center including temporary relocation, 2) retirement of our long-serving Rector, and 3) post-pandemic membership / attendance growth. These and other priorities are in addition to needs of a more typical year.

This is a call to Vestry service for members with appropriate leadership or ministry experience and a passion for COS' success (and baptized / attending / contributing members 18 years or older). The Vestry is the governing board of the parish.

There are two current openings on the Vestry. Our Parish by-laws allow for mid-term appointment to vacancies. Those appointed would serve out a remaining term - currently, there is a two year and a three year term open.

In addition to those of us who have not yet served, service by those of us who have served in leadership before is encouraged (perhaps service a few years ago, for example).

Interested members or those who'd like to nominate another with their permission should email Vestry Membership Chair Bob Stine or give him a call at 773-575-5200. Questions welcome as well.

Thank you for prayerfully considering this call to service at an exciting and key time for COS!
