Pastor Andy Keltner
Church

Whoever is separated from the Church and is joined to an adulteress, is separated from the promises of the Church; nor can he who forsakes the Church of Christ attain to the rewards of Christ. He is a stranger; he is profane; he is an enemy. He can no longer have God for his Father, who has not the Church for his mother.  (Cyprian of Carthage, Translated by Robert Ernest Wallis. From Ante-Nicene Fathers, Vol. 5. Edited by Alexander Roberts, James Donaldson, and A. Cleveland Coxe. Buffalo, NY: Christian Literature Publishing Co., 1886.)

I found this quote while I was doing research for "Everyone a Witness Bible Study".  It is important that we worship God in his church. It is important for our spiritual well being that we are nourished by the Word and Sacrament ministry of the church.

Every year the church sets a budget. The trend is that when attendance is down giving is down. Therefore budget time is painful for those who are in leadership in the church. Biblically first fruit giving is part of our spiritual discipline. We respond to our loving God by giving our first fruits in worship. We give, out of gratitude for what God has given us.

I believe that churches have spiritual problems and that is why there are money problems. The only way to grow spiritually is though the Word and Sacrament. When we are separated from the Word and Sacrament ministry of the church we do not grow. We become spiritually weak.

I would ask you to evaluate your worship.  I would ask you to evaluate your giving. I would encourage you to come to worship. I would encourage you to study God's Word corporately and privately. I would encourage you to invite others to come and worship with you.

Invest in your relationship to God.  He invested his all to redeem you. God sent his Son to die that we might have life.  This is something to celebrate and share.

Sunday School is back in session!
Sunday School

Join us Sunday mornings for Sunday School and Bible Studies.  Music begins at 9:15 a.m. downstairs followed by Sunday School classes for all ages at 9:30 a.m.

Several new faces join the teaching staff.  This year the staff includes:  Tricia Walania (Preschool & Kindergarten); Mindy Bell (Grades 1 - 3); and Stacy Grove (Grades 4 - 7).  We appreciate their willingness to step in and teach.  Gerry and Michelle Eickhoff continue to  teach the 8th through High School Class and  Pastor Andy leads the Adult Bible Study.

We also want to take this opportunity to thank Deb Bell, Angie Graham, and Paulette Varns for all their years of service!  You have been a blessing to all the children and to Christ Our Savior for your dedication.

Our prayer is that you and your family take advantage of this opportunity to study God's Word.  Hope to see you Sundays at 9:15 a.m.

Financial News
Christ Our Savior needs you!  The church's expenses are exceeding the offering.  During the summer we experience lower than average attendance but our expenses remained steady and some increased - primarily due to utilities.  The Church Council has cut expenses to make our dollars stretch as far as they can.

But, now we need your help.  Our prayer is that you and your family will come to services on Sundays.  We have three times to choose from: 8 AM, 10:30 AM and 7:00 PM.  Sunday nights are very casual and everyone in attendance receives a special prayer.

Please review your giving to our church.  We rely on weekly offering to pay the bills.  Any increase is welcome and it will help.

Consider electronic giving to be able to budget your offering for weekly, semi-monthly or monthly giving.  Forms are available near the front door of the church.  Contact Linda Richards or ask any council member for help with the forms.  If you are already giving electronically you may increase the amount using the same form or contact Linda Richards for help.

Pray for continued growth.  We have gained new members this year and we are very thankful that they found their way to Christ Our Savior.  Ask a friend, bring your neighbors!  Come to Sunday Adult Bible Study or Wednesday night Bible Study to learn more about how to share the Good News!

The holidays are approaching and that means shopping.  If you make purchases through Amazon, please consider using smile.amazon.com and designating Christ Our Savior in Louisburg, Kansas as your charity. Amazon deposits a small percentage based on our collective purchases into the church's checking account quarterly.  This is at no cost to you.

We will present the budget for 2019 at a Voters Meeting in December. If you would like a copy of the proposed budget currently under consideration, please contact Cindy Karrow at [email protected] or call the church office and leave a message.  We welcome your input. The Council meets on the first Tuesday of each month at 7:30 pm in the church basement.

Watch for Financial News updates in email and newsletters.

Youth Group Casserole and Bake Sale set for October 21st

Each participating youth is to make a casserole or two (oven-ready) and bring it on Sunday, October 21.  We will be selling the casseroles between services and after 2nd service.  Please provide name of casserole and directions for cooking your casserole (i.e. - oven temperature and time for cooking).  Also provide a thank you for the purchase!  We will sell each casserole for $15.  The more casseroles we have, the more money we can add towards the next National Youth Gathering in 2019 or summer camps.

We also talked about selling items like cinnamon rolls, and breads along with the casseroles.  If you would like to do this in addition to the casserole to help us out, we would welcome it.

Thank you for your help!

Help us raise money for our Youth Group!

It's easy, just save labels for cash.  Just save the labels of Best Choice products. Be sure to save the UPC portion (proof of purchase). Our youth group will earn $30 in cash for each bundle of 1,000 UPC's sent in.  So far we have only 400 UPC codes.  We have a box in the narthex to collect the labels.  Please keep your eyes open for the label box and help us raise some funds!
