Diaper Bank faces federal funding cuts

Starting April 15 and running through May 15, 2026, United Way of the Franklin & Hampshire Region is running “The Diaper Deficit” fundraising campaign to help ensure the stable continued operation of the Diaper Bank, despite the uncertainty in federal funding. The monetary donations raised by this campaign will support the Diaper Bank’s operations and supplies for families living in Franklin and Hampshire counties and the North Quabbin area. The ability of the diaper bank to continue serving the local community at its current level is being threatened by gaps in federal funding. The anticipated loss of funding means that the Diaper Bank will immediately lose 50% of its monthly capacity (10,000 diapers per month) and $10,000 in funding for staffing and operations.

Northampton Opioid Settlement Grants

The Northampton DHHS launched its Opioid Settlement Fund (OSF) mini-grant program on April 6th, directing funding to community-based organizations working on overdose prevention, harm reduction, treatment access, and recovery support. The program coincides with National Public Health Week (April 6–12) and reflects this year’s theme, “Ready. Set. Action.”, by putting resources into community-driven solutions that reduce harm and save lives. Approximately $120,000 is available this funding cycle. Organizations serving Northampton residents may apply for up to $10,000, with a priority deadline of May 15, 2026, and an information session on April 17th.

HSF seeking Board members
