HELLO EVERYONE

Well the news is that I have spent the past 4 weeks in hospital having radiotherapy for my spinal tumour, with two more weeks to go. I feel so very appreciative of the NHS who do so much for us and extremely humble and grateful especially when I see so many people that are struggling much more than I am. I am also grateful that I have my family, friends and creative life which support and sustain me.

I am not grumbling and I at least get home for weekends and back to my bed......what joy!!!!

So life goes on and with it the courses at Moor Hall.

I know that I have written before of these two courses, but just maybe, someone is out there pondering whether to do either of these fabulous courses.

STITCHED PICTURES ~ a contemporary take on kantha

This is the title of the new course that Dorothy Tucker is bringing to Moor Hall Studio VERY SOON on 31st July/1st August. But it is not too late to book the last remaining place.

If you love hand stitch you will love this course and I must stress that it is suitable for complete beginners as well as experienced stitchers. As long as you can do a running stitch you will be fine as you will be shown the numerous variations that you can do with this stitch to create texture, outlines, filling and pattern making.

Dorothy comes with a huge amount of knowledge as well as samples from her lovely collection of Indian embroideries all offering a very rich and worthwhile experience to anyone attending.

Chinese Whispers

I was speaking today with one of the nurses who had looked at my website and said that she could never do all that I do (well I couldn't do what she does either). But the point with art and textiles is that we are all at different stages and the tutors that I bring in to Moor Hall have the experience of bringing something out of individuals which perhaps they thought they could not do.

Amanda Clayton is no exception. Her gentle, skilful manner and wide depth of knowlege enables even those who feel that they have no experience to produce something which they are proud of, as well as stretching the more experienced student.

Again this is a fabulous new course to Moor Hall which will include some very achieveable design methods that will enable students to carry out the HAND STITCH techniques on their own original designs. Students constantly come back on Amanda's courses which must surely illustrate her brilliance both in teaching and as an artist.
