To All Members:

As this week ends, more and more people in our region are being tested for COVID-19, including our members, and more and more people are testing positive, including our members.

In Pennsylvania alone, the state earlier today reported an additional 533 positive cases of COVID-19 and 12 new deaths. Gov. Wolf also expanded a “Stay at Home” Order to nine more counties, bringing the total to 22 counties.

We know that the pandemic’s spread across our region has not peaked, so the numbers will only grow in the coming days and weeks. This is sobering, news, obviously, but this is the reality that we are now confronting.

Our team continues to work hard to protect you at your worksite and to help you and your families navigate this crisis.

Working with employers, we have developed new safety protocols that include tougher cleaning standards, installation of plexiglass panels where appropriate, and more common space so you can practice social distancing, among other important changes.

We are working with employers to make sure that they update their sick pay and leave policies to reflect the challenges posed by this pandemic. Please CLICK HERE and scroll down the page to find your employer’s COVID-19 policy or agreement.

UFCW 1776KS is teaming up with other unions at the state and federal level to make sure that our members in healthcare, food manufacturing, and retail are classified as frontline workers and have the protections they need in the workplace in state and federal law.

In the last several weeks, we have secured temporary pay bonuses or “premiums” for thousands of our members and, even today, we are pushing more employers to step up. We know we have more work to do.

We have added new information and tools to our COVID-19 Resource Center. Those resources include a thorough set of FAQs that will be helpful to you and your families.

We have launched an online COVID-19 Hiring Hall for members out of work. Please visit this page – because we know that this resource is working. Earlier this week, we announced a partnership with Kroger to fill positions in the Ohio Valley. You will see information about those opportunities when you visit the site.

Please remember to contact your Union Representative if you need assistance. Use our toll-free number at 866.239.1776.

Thank you, again, for your hard work and, again, please stay safe, wash your hands, and practice social distancing.
