¡Recuerda las 3Ms! (Know your 3Ms)
We are all familiar with the "Know Your 3Ws!" prevention message. Today, NCDHHS is officially launching the companion prevention campaign, called "¡Recuerda las 3Ms!" (Know your 3Ms), and we would like your help in getting the word out!
This prevention message, which will run side-by-side with the Know Your 3Ws English language message is designed to increase awareness of preventative measures for Spanish-speaking North Carolinians. The 3Ms campaign, originating in Spanish and created by native Spanish speakers, is an authentic and memorable interpretation of the three key steps to prevention, known in English as: Wear. Wait. Wash. For more information about "las 3Ms", please refer to this press release.
Now, we need your help to get the word about "las 3Ms."
To help you increase awareness in your communities about "las 3Ms" and "the 3Ws", we've developed new resources that we hope you will share widely through your communications channels. These resources, which are part of our Prevent and Protect Media Toolkit, include:
- Printable posters for businesses and community organizations to hang that remind people to practice "las 3Ms." We encourage you to place these printable posters in breakrooms, waiting rooms, building entrances or on doors, and other frequented locations. The "¡Recuerda las 3Ms!" resources are provided in Spanish and the "Know Your 3Ws" resources are available in English.
- A series of posters and social media graphics that encourages employees in professions at an increased risk of being exposed to COVID-19 to be sure to practice "las 3Ms" / "the 3Ws". In this case, the images on these posters are representative of the broad profession.
In addition to getting the word out about "las 3Ms", don't forget to use the COVID-19 Prevent and Protect Media Toolkit - full of social media posts and images, infographics, customizable flyers, and more - to get the word out about important tools and resources designed to help North Carolinians protect themselves and their loved ones against the spread of COVID-19. We will continue to update the page with new materials, so please check back often. All materials are available in English and Spanish.
Stakeholder Announcement
We need your help to get the word out to families that child care is available!
With school now underway, many working parents are facing the added stress of finding a safe place for their children during the day that can also support their remote learning. The good news is that there is ample licensed child care available across the state, and we are making it as easy as possible for families to find it. In partnership with Child Care Resources and Referral, the NC Department of Health and Human Services created a free hotline to connect families to licensed care for their school-age children. Families can call the hotline at 1-888-600-1685.
Help families know that they have options by:
Thank you for supporting North Carolina's children and families during these challenging times.

NC Social Emotional Learning Stakeholder Input Opportunity for Youth Ages 14-18
The NC Social and Emotional Learning Implementation Team is seeking feedback from youth ages 14-18 to develop a vision for what social and emotional learning in schools across the state should look like. Your assistance is requested to circulate this electronic survey link to youth serving agencies/organizations.
Through this stakeholder input opportunity, youth are invited to participate in an electronic survey to share their thoughts on:
- What the most important skills students need to be career, college, or community ready?
- How social and emotional skills impact students, teachers or other adults, schools, and communities
- How focusing on equity and social and emotional skills in school can impact schools long-term and
- How adults can support youth to engage in a meaningful way to support student social and emotional learning in schools.
The survey link will close on Thursday, September 10th.
Thanks for your assistance in promoting this opportunity for NC youth ages 14-18 broadly within your professional networks.
