Lenders began submitting their Paycheck Protection Program (PPP) loan forgiveness decisions to the Small Business Administration (SBA) on Monday, August 10. On June 23, 2020, the SEC's Division of Corporation Finance (the "Staff") issued Disclosure Guidance: Topic 9A (the "Guidance"), providing guidance on operations, liquidity, and capital resources disclosure that companies should consider in light of the COVID-19 pandemic. AI Algorithm May Help ID Homeless Youth at Risk for Substance Abuse
Psych Central - August 18, 2020
An artificial intelligence (AI) algorithm developed by a research team from the College of Information Sciences and Technology at Penn State could help predict susceptibility to substance use disorder among homeless youth and suggest personalized rehabilitation programs for these highly vulnerable individuals. For the project, the research team built the model using data collected from approximately 1,400 homeless youth, ages 18 to 26, in six U.S. states. They discovered that adverse childhood experiences and physical street victimization were more strongly linked to substance use disorder than other types of victimization, such as sexual victimization, among homeless youth.
Using New Tools to Stay Connected
Spending time as a family is crucial to strengthening and maintaining family bonds and, ultimately, reunification. When in-person contact isn't possible, family time through video or streaming services is a valuable alternative. These two new publications can help families and child welfare professionals navigate the move to virtual family time.
New Resources to Support Virtual and Remote Workforce Needs
Changing to remote work can have its own challenges. Child welfare professionals and agencies can use the resources in Virtual and Remote Workforce Needs for further guidance on making this shift. Find tips on virtual supervision and case management, hosting successful video visits with young children, and more.
"All-In" Foster Adoption Challenge Update
As we work locally toward making sure all children can have safe, permanent families, work is also being done at the national level. There is a newly signed executive order (EO) to support the "All-In" Foster Adoption Challenge! The EO addresses three primary objectives:
- Improving partnerships
- Improving resources
- Improving oversight
A new blog post outlines the details on the new EO and shares more about the actions governors across the country are taking to continue to support the children in their state still looking for a permanent family.
