Ontario Providing Electricity Relief to Families,
Small Businesses and Farms During COVID-19

For a 45-day period, the government is working to hold electricity prices to the off-peak rate of 10.1 cents-per-kilowatt-hour. By switching to a fixed off-peak rate, time-of-use customers will see rate reductions of over 50 per cent compared to on-peak rates.
MBOT Calls on Region of Peel to Defer Payment of Utility Bills
In a letter to Region of Peel Chair, Nando Iannicca, The Mississauga Board of Trade calls upon the Region defer payment for utility bills for business and residents
Federal News
At the time of this release, the House of Commons is SUSPENDED on debating the $82B relief package. The Liberal government inserted a provision in the bill asking for extraordinary powers that would extend over the next two years.
The Conservatives and NDP are opposed and say they were prepared to support the relief package but will not support these extraordinary powers.
The opposition parties are prepared to return to Parliament to address further measures should the government need to increase the relief package in the future.
