Dear Friends,

I write to update you on how SFHDC will operate while San Francisco's "Shelter-in-Place" directive is in effect. As you know, Order No. C19-07 , issued on March 16, 2020, aims to protect public health and slow the spread of the COVID-19 virus. Because SFHDC provides an array of services considered to be essential, and we take very seriously the need to do our part in meeting the objectives of the public health order, we will operate at a reduced level through the duration of the health emergency.

Please note the following changes to our regular operations:
Financial Empowerment Center

  • The Bayview Office and Western Addition site (Success Center) are both CLOSED
  • Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) - By appointment only Thursdays and Saturdays - Call 415-822-1022. No-Walk-ins Permitted!
  • Individual Housing Counseling - Virtual (online) and Phone Counseling still available - Call 415-822-1022 to schedule.
  • First Time Homebuyer Education (Online only) - Register HERE.
  • MOHCD Homebuyer Programs Orientation - Cancelled, but stay tuned for future developments.
  • Credit, Money Management & Rental Workshops & Clinics - Cancelled, but stay tuned for future online webinars.

For more information, or to follow up on existing housing counseling services, please contact the Financial Empowerment Team at [email protected] . or 415-822-1022 x 103

Resident Services

  • Food Pantry at 1030 Oakdale - Will continue to operate every Friday, 1-2pm ***Additional health and safety precautions will be required.***
  • All public meetings and events have been cancelled.
  • On-Site Assistance - By appointment only.

Site-specific communications have been posted. Contact Taylor or Channing , or call 415-822-1022 if you need further information.
Except as noted above, SFHDC’s offices will generally be closed, but our team will continue to provide many of our core programs to our clients, residents and the public via remote work and limited in-person services.

It is our hope that the above temporary measures will 1) ensure the wellbeing of everyone (residents, clients and staff), 2) comply with the critically important Shelter-in-Place Order, and 3) provide essential services to our clients and residents to the maximum extent possible.

Thank you for your understanding and support. Take good care of yourselves and each other. Although our notions of “togetherness” will be stretched during this challenging time of increased isolation, SFHDC will continue to provide services and support to the San Francisco community.
Sincerely,

David Sobel
CEO / Executive Director
