COVID-19 Down Time - Time to Review Your Risk Management Checklist - A Must
As many of you know, this has been an extremely difficult week in the dental industry. Needless to say, we are in uncharted territory.

As events continue to unfold by the day, sometimes by the hour, we continue to advise our clients on complex matters regarding employment law, and the new federal law that was enacted on March 18, 2020 [ “The Families First Coronavirus Response Act” ]

However, many of our clients and colleagues have questions about the present, and also moving forward in the next 30, 60, and 90 days.

Everyday, we tell our clients to continue to whether the storm, although it may get a little bumpy, they will come out of this difficult period stronger than ever.

As for the future, we are advising our clients that this is the PERFECT TIME to review their systems, protocols, compliance and internal matters such as their:

  1. Employee Manual (including a social media policy, cell phone and Internet policy), which also includes overtime regulations. 
  2. New employee package [documents for applications, credit screens, etc...], including employee evaluation and interim employee evaluations. 
  3. HIPPA Manual 
  4. OSHA Manual 
  5. Non-Disclosure and Non-Solicitation Agreement's [signed by every employee [and a non-compete signed by key employees, associates and independent contractors]
  6. Website and social media disclaimers/privacy terms.
  7. Intellectual Property (IP) protection (protect your name, logos, slogans) (trademark/service marks filed with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office].
  8. Assignment of website design as to your practice Intellectual Property [from your web designer to you].
  9. Estate Planning (Wills, trusts, etc...)

As a firm, we believe this is the best time in history to be a dentist, and we have no doubt that our clients will be in a substantially better position once this difficult period passes.
