A Time to Stay Positive
During so much change, one message is ringing out. Stay calm, stay informed, and stay positive!

We have seen this over and over in our Town, and the latest example came from Berwick today, who organized a virtual dance party and invited the neighbours to join in!

Wipes Clog Pipes
The RDN has announced that while they are happy to see residents using disinfectant/sanitary wipes, please note that “wipes clog pipes”.

All sanitizer wipes, paper towel, napkins or baby wipes will cause blockages and are to be placed in the garbage and securely tied.

Events Cancelled / Postponed
Timberfest – Event Postponed
Due to the uncertainty of the coming months with COVID-19, the organizers for TimberFest and the Town of Qualicum Beach have decided to postpone the event to a later date. We are sad to see this great event postponed, but look forward to some world-class carving coming this year to Qualicum Beach. Stay tuned for new dates!

St. Mark’s Fair – Event Update
It is with sadness that St Mark’s announce the cancellation of this years 48th Annual St. Mark’s Fair. The Parish Council’s decision was made upon the recommendation of the Fair Committee and the ongoing updates from the Provincial Health Authorities.
They say they are “ever hopeful that the fellowship of the Fair will take on a "new face" perhaps in the Fall of this year”.

Council Committee of the Whole – Cancelled
The Committee of the Whole meeting schedule for April 15, 2020 has been cancelled.
Open Burning Restrictions - Now in Effect
Effective immediately, the Provincial government has issued open burning restrictions for land/garden clearing in our region. No new fires may be initiated and no additional material may be added to existing fires. This will be in effect until April 15, 2020.

As cases of novel coronavirus (COVID-19) in BC continue to increase, the BC Centre for Disease Control recommends implementing measures that help to reduce excess air pollution in populated air sheds across the province. There is strong evidence that exposure to air pollution increases susceptibility to respiratory viral infections by decreasing immune function.

COVID-19 Enforcement Support
The Province has issued orders that allow municipal bylaw officers to support enforcement of public health orders for business closures and gatherings, in line with offences under the Public Health Act. The Town of Qualicum Beach is preparing to help. To report concerns, please email dmarshall@qualicumbeach.com or call 250.738.2205
