Hylant - NOSAC - Child Welfare Liability Group Captive Study
We wanted to be sure to share with an opportunity for our Child Welfare providers to consider that is being considered through one of national partners, NOSAC.  Please see below for more information from Mark Renske, Client Executive, Hylant Group.

"All,

I am excited to announce that we have officially commenced the process for our Phase-1 Study in launching a group captive for your members to combat their struggles with the rising liability insurance market.  I have attached the actual proposal for your review and to share with your membership bases.  I am happy to schedule times to present to each of your memberships at a time that works best for you if you prefer.  Please feel free to send along and let your individual members know my contact information is below and I would be happy to discuss with anyone and/or organization on an individual basis as well.

We have already begun to get early adopters and will be looking to add as many groups as we can.  The details are all included in the attached proposal.  Some of the highlights including but not limited to are:

  • Total per member cost for Phase-1 study = $17,000
    • Includes an initial non-refundable fee of $3,000 up front to commit to the study
    • Once we obtain the minimum necessary number of 10 groups, we will bill the next portion of $7,000
    • Upon completion of the Phase-1 study, we will bill the remaining balance of $7,000 equaling the total $17,000 for the full study.
      * We arrived at this three step cost approach to reduce the financial burden and ease the trepidation of making the full financial commitment without knowing if we would ever meet the critical mass of total members required to conduct and produce a full analysis. This way, if for some reason we do not reach our total target mass of members to participate, those that sign on are only at risk of $3,000.
  • Conceptually this is going to be a member owned insurance company.  Once in operation, if the captive performs well it generates an underwriting profit.  The benefit to you as members is that a captive's members own that profit.  Early adopters that sign on to the study will be given the opportunity to have board positions and preferred shares.  Thus, we're trying to incentivize those that are interested in this model to jump on early and encourage others to follow.
I will continue to reach out to many of for your support.  Please feel free to connect with me at your convenience to discuss.

Sincerely,

Note: We also recently participated in a webinar hosted by the  Alliance for Strong Families and Communities:  The Nonprofit Insurance Crisis: What You Need To Know and What You Can Do.  This webinar included an overview of some of the different types of insurance currently available for non-profit agencies.  We wanted to share this with you again, just in case the information above raises additional questions for you about coverage options.
