COVID-19 (Coronavirus) Update: DEED Website, CARES Webinar, and Promoting the Value of Plants
MNLA Members,

We wanted to update you as the association continues to work on issues related to COVID-19.

HOW TO TAKE ACTION
MNLA continues to advocate daily on behalf of the Green Industry with Minnesota officials including Minnesota legislators, the Commissioner of Agriculture, and the Governor’s office directly.

If you would like to TAKE ACTION yourself on behalf of your individual business, as we’ve noted in the past, you can go to this link and submit to DEED’s Request for Clarification of Critical Sector Worker Categories Under Executive Order 20-20. We have heard from members that individual appeals are getting responses.

5PM TODAY - FREE AMERICANHORT WEBINAR: A Discussion on the CARES Act--Loans, Grants, and Business Relief
On Friday, March 27, Congress passed the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act. It’s an estimated $2 trillion package, which specifically allots $10 Billion for Economic Injury Disaster Loans (EIDLs) and $350 billion for Paycheck Protection Loans to help small businesses. K·Coe Senior Associate Kala Jenkins and Federal Affairs Lead Brian Kuehl will discuss the latest on Small Business Administration (SBA) loans and direct payment programs that currently exist as a result of the COVID-19 crisis. With the passage of this stimulus package, timely and useable guidance is essential. This webinar will help you learn what this means for your business.

PROMOTING THE BENEFITS OF PLANTS
MNLA has been compiling some resources to help inform consumers about the fact that gardening is not cancelled this year! There are a variety of resources from campaigns being developed across the country that are available for your download and use – social media graphics, website links, and fun facts. We hope you can use these resources as you continue to educate consumers about the value of plants and landscaping.  Visit our website here to learn more.

ADDITIONAL RESOURCES COMING
Finally, MNLA is also working on compiling resources related to safe business practices and federal and local aid/loan/grant packages available to Green Industry businesses. Watch for more information to come on these two topics shortly.
