NJAASC has curated authoritative information and a list of resources for our Membership’s reference. We will continue to update this as more information becomes available.

ASC PPE REPORTING PORTAL – 6/15/20
Unfortunately DOH did not get the ED approved in time on Friday for it to be e-mailed out.
They have told me it would be done today, but who knows!
They will change the time frame to get your information back to them as well, as it was originally supposed to be tomorrow.
So, do not do anything until you receive a direct e-mail from Jeanne DeVitto at DOH.
HOSPITAL TRANSFER AND PORTAL REPORTING - 6/15/20
Part of the portal reporting will be to indicate your hospital transfer agreement.
There appears to still be some issues and questions regarding this.
Needless to say- it is required by New Jersey regulation, no matter what CMS says!
NJAC 8:43A-15.3( c) -Emergency medical services not provided at the facility shall be provided by a hospital or hospitals by written agreement.
NJAC 8:43A-3.6 (a )- at least one member of the medical staff has to maintain admitting privileges.
So that means that you to be a licensed facility, you will need both a transfer agreement and at least one doctor to have admitting privileges at a hospital.
CMS rules updated in 2020:
(1) The ASC must have an effective procedure for the immediate transfer, to a hospital, of patients requiring emergency medical care beyond the capabilities of the ASC.
(2) This hospital must be a local, Medicare participating hospital or a local, nonparticipating hospital that meets the requirements for payment for emergency services under §482.2 of this chapter.
(3) The ASC must periodically provide the local hospital with written notice of its operations and patient population served.

COVID TESTING FOR ONE ROOMS – 6/15/20
DOH has opined that it appears DCA will officially put out something about RSPs and testing before surgery- that it will be required.
I have been haranguing them about this for weeks, looks like it paid off!
There cannot be separate guidelines for elective procedures, no matter who has authority-be it DOH or DCA.
Everyone must be the same, period.
Hopefully the amended guidelines will be out soon.
NJAASC has been advising RSPs who inquired that in our opinion they should be testing, and thankfully most are, they recognize the importance.
YOU MUST ALWAYS REPORT CHANGES IN ADMINISTRATION/CONTACT TO DOH – 6/15/20
Remember, you must always report any changes you have with your administration and/or contact information to DOH.
This becomes extremely important with the Portal, as DOH is contacting whom they have listed as the contact, to get information on who will be reporting.
Staff changes and so do websites, e-mails and phone numbers. Whenever that happens, you need to notify the Department, always.
