I am holding each of you in prayer. Here is updated information about the life of our church community during the COVID-19 pandemic.
How to Reach Me
If you need to reach me about anything, big or small, please feel free to email me at this address or call or text 610-909-9770. I welcome hearing from you.
This Sunday we will livestream worship using YouTube instead of Facebook. With YouTube, anyone can access the link even if you don't have an account. The video will automatically save to FLUMC's YouTube channel so you can send it to family and friends or come back to watch later. Here is the link to click on Sunday morning:
. Worship will start at 10 am. I encourage you to share the link via Facebook and any other ways you'd like.
We are experimenting with ways to make virtual worship more participatory. This week we have prepared a PDF of the bulletin that includes the words to the hymns.
to access it. Richard and Russell will lead the hymns, and we encourage you to sing along at home. We'll aim to post the words in the YouTube feed too. The prayer time will include visuals and ways to engage from where you are. You are welcome to share prayer requests with me ahead of time or through the feed.
I welcome your feedback about what works well and what could use improvement as we figure out a new way of worshiping together.
All events held in our building have been cancelled or postponed until further notice. This includes The Old Stone Storytelling Night on March 20 and The Old Stone April 3 event with John Sheehan.
The young adults, Bible study, and young families will meet through Zoom at different points throughout the month. If you would like more information about any of these gatherings or about using Zoom for another group, please contact me. Zoom is easy to use. You simply click on a link to join from your computer or you can call in from your phone.
While we all adjust to the changes in our routine to slow the curve of COVID-19 and gather virtually, the ministries of our church continue. Your continued financial support allows us to meet the needs of our congregation and community and to continue to pay our staff in this time.
You can contribute either by mailing a check or giving online. If you mail a check, the church address is 454 Pulis Ave, Franklin Lakes, NJ 07417. Please include your envelope number if you know it.
Another option is to give online through Vanco Services LLC. The link to online giving is
and can also be accessed through the green "Give Now" button at the bottom right corner of any page of
. The Vanco service is highly secure, supporting online giving to over 30,000 churches and non-profits. It is nationally endorsed by the United Methodist Church. They can process donations from your bank account (preferred because it is a lower cost to the church) or to a credit card.
If you have questions, please feel free to call finance committee co-chair, Len Van Orden at 201-747-4442 or email him at
To close, I offer words from Glenn Mitchell, co-director of Oasis Ministries for Spiritual Development:
Our cells are fed by breath. Peace is manifest in breath. This is why in the post-resurrection appearances Jesus is always breathing on the disciples and saying, "Peace be with you." Take peace in through your breath. Deepen your breath. Regularly take full or complete breaths. Release your fear and anxiety on the exhale. Imagine peace entering you on the inhale. Return love to your breath. Return peace to your cells.
May our hands and hearts be open.
