COVID-19 Action Fund Grants - Round 3 United Way Blackhawk Region has announced its third round of COVID-19 Action Fund grants. The Janesville Boys and Girls Club has been awarded $6,350 to help provide equipment, supplies and personal protective equipment (PPE) to ensure the health and safety of Club children, staff, and families. Retired Senior and Volunteer Program (RSVP) has been awarded $2,761 to reimburse volunteer drivers for delivering meals from food pantries in Beloit, Clinton, Janesville and Orfordville, to eligible individuals and families.  Visit LiveUnitedBR.org/COVID-19 to view entire list of grant recipients to date.

Emergency Grants  UWBR announced in April a total of $13,201.15 in emergency funding grants to three local nonprofit agencies. This funding is separate from the COVID-19 Action Fund and is available annually to UWBR funded partners in the event of a disaster, catastrophe, or crisis. This year the requests were a direct result of emergency needs from the pandemic.

United Way Facilitates Federal Grant Dollars  United Way Blackhawk Region recently facilitated federal grant money for the Emergency Food and Shelter Program (EFSP) for Rock County nonprofits. The local EFSP board is responsible for recommending how the funds will be distributed to service agencies in the area and is facilitated by United Way Blackhawk Region President & CEO Mary Fanning-Penny. The local board also consists of representatives from the faith community, American Red Cross, Catholic Charities, ECHO, Family Services of S.W.A.N.I., Rock County government, and the Salvation Army Rock County.   A total of $162,465 was awarded. Fundraising for the COVID-19 Action Fund has reached $283,150; $100,000 of which was seeded by United Way Blackhawk Region reserves.
