Dear Members of the PdC Chamber of Commerce,

As the outbreak of COVID-19, or better known as the Coronavirus, continues to dominate the news, it is important to remember that at this time the threat risk in Southwest Wisconsin and the Prairie du Chien area is considered low. Please take this time to think through vital operations, and to prepare your organization for what you would do should the outbreak reach our community. This outbreak has the potential to impact the supply and demand for essential goods and services, slow if not stop community resources, as well as create barriers for both customers and employees and their families. Until the control of this situation can be reached, we encourage all organizations to think ahead on how best to prepare,

A number In response to the rapidly evolving public health emergency, DWD understands COVID-19 had raised many questions by individuals, businesses and organizations. Below are answers to the most frequently asked questions that relate to DWD's services. DWD is working withthe WEDC Association to address the concerns of WIsconsin stakeholders and will be providing updates soon. WEDC is also working closely with Wisconsin Emergency Management and the US SBA to unlock federal relief funds.

Frequently asked questions about the (COVID-19) Coronavirus and Wisconsin Unemployment Benefits.

  • Will workers qualify for unemployment benefits if the virus causes an employer to shut down operations?

  • If an employer lays off employees due to the loss of production causes by the virus, will the employees be eligible for unemployment insurance benefits?

  • If an employee receives unemployment benefits as a result of the virus related business shutdown, can the benefits be charged to the fund's balancing account?

  • If an employee imposes a self-quarantine because of the virus,, will they be eligible for unemployment benefits?

Hand posters & send video encouraging: Cough and Sneeze etiquette.

Keep Calm and Wash Your Hands

DO

Know the difference between cleaning, sanitizing and disinfecting.

CLEANING: removes dirt and most germs. Use soap and water. A third party certified green cleaner is preferred. In conference rooms, cleaning is the focus.

SANITIZING reduces germs to safe levels, for example in food service environments. Food code regulations have specific requirements for sanitizers in the cafeteria and kitchen.

Disinfecting kills most germs depending on the type of chemical, and only when used as directed on the label.
