NEWS
  • NEW- Marriage Licenses via Videoconference: Governor Gavin Newsom signed an executive order that will allow adults to obtain marriage licenses via videoconferencing rather than in person amidst the COVID-19 pandemic. Adults will be able to get a marriage license, at the discretion of their local county clerk, through videoconferencing, as long as both adults are located within the State of California, are present, and can present identification during the video conference. Additionally, adults who wish to be married can conduct a ceremony to solemnize the marriage via videoconference, as long as both parties are present, and have at least one witness who can join the live video conference. The provisions will be in place for the next 60 days for those who wish to be married during that time.
  • NEW - The City of San Jose has established a Virtual Local Assistance Center. Being Aware of Learning Opportunities and Constraints Posed by Online Teaching and Moving Towards Anti-Racist Practices
Thursday, May 7, 2020 from 12:00 - 1:30 p.m.
This webinar will address the “taken-for-granted” practices and assumptions that shape the online learning environment and ways in which they can be detrimental to the success of minoritized students. For example, many students only have access to a cellular phone and instructors are not considering how the materials they upload may become distorted on a phone. The current circumstances are overwhelming and it is easy for instructors to default to the students who have the know-how to navigate technology. Register at this link.
