Gavilan College food pantry program grows under Covid-19
NEWS
NEW - CALIFORNIA STATE UNIVERSITY - California State University Chancellor Timothy White today announced the m ajority of classes at all 23 CSU campuses will go online for the fall 2020 semester. Chancellor White said there will be some limited exceptions that will allow for in-person activity

NEW - The Los Angeles County public health director today said the county “with all certainty” will keep stay-at-home orders in place until July. 

NEW - SACRAMENTO, CA – In response to news of the $53.4 billion shortfall in the 2020-21 State Budget,  Community College League of California President & CEO, Dr. Larry Galizio, released the following statement:

"While the Community College League of California recognizes the severity of the state’s fiscal shortfall, we want to assure local communities across California that our community colleges remain open to all who seek quality, affordable career and transfer education and especially to those dislocated by the crisis. California Community Colleges are a catalyst for economic recovery and we are strategically poised to maintain our emphasis on access, student success and equity. The Community College League of California stands ready to work with Governor Newsom and legislative leaders to craft a responsible budget that honors its commitment to funding high quality, affordable public higher education through its 115 indispensable locally-governed community colleges. We also call upon our federal policymakers to substantially increase the nation’s investment in higher education through another round of stimulus funding to help mitigate the effects of the state's budget shortfall and to more quickly facilitate moving those from joblessness to gainful employment."
GAVILAN COLLEGE STATUS :
  • All locations of Gavilan College are closed, and all instruction and services are being provided in online format through the end of May.
  • The campus, including tennis courts, track, and golf course,is closed to the public
  • Summer registration is underway. Summer classes start June 15
  • Fall registration will begin on June 22
  • Scholarship application deadline has been extended until May 15
  • Deadline to select PASS/ NO PASS grading option has been extended until May 15

  • Graduation has been postponed until Fall 2020, tentatively to be scheduled by department December 19-21. Read letter from Dr. Rose
The ASGC Centennial Scholarship is for students that have been affected by Covid-19.

FALL 2020
  • Fall 2020 classes, services, and activities will be offered primarily online, except for those programs where licensing requirements or the nature of the matieral require face-to-face instruction.
  • When face-to-face instruction takes place, it will be in accordance with appropriate practices for sanitizing and social distancing in accordance with public health guidelines.
  • If classes have a synchronous component, that is, required online meetings at a specific day and time, these will be listed in the Fall schedule of classes so students may plan accordingly.
  • Registration for Fall classes will begin on June 22
