MASKING MORE: LOCAL GOVERNMENTS TRENDING TOWARDS MANDATORY FACIAL COVERINGS
In a continuation of last week's trend, more local governments are beginning to require the use of facial coverings throughout businesses, government buildings, and other public spaces where social distancing may not easily be maintained. Noncompliance increasingly carries the risk of citations and fines, with exceptions made for several demographic, employment, and health-related reasons. Local governments that have recently implemented this requirement, such as Hillsborough, Pasco, and Pinellas Counties, have all noted another, more underlying trend: an increase in the seven-day positivity rate among those of their constituents who have been tested for COVID-19.
