Community resident Christine (photo below) came by the City's Emergency Operations Center in late March asking where she could donate hand-made cloth masks. The City was initiating a mask policy for staff and so we told her we could use some. Our first responders including Police, Fire, and Public Works need masks during their daily work. She had already donated dozens of masks to other residents.

About three weeks later Christine dropped off a total of 500 masks! She recruited neighbors to help measure, cut, and sew the masks. They named their group the Sewing Sisterhood of Monterey. About 15 of them worked remotely with material that the City procured and dropped off at various locations. Thank you to Christine and the Sewing Sisterhood of Monterey !
