FROM THE CITY OF MONTEREY
COVID-19 Local Update - in Brief
March 20, 2020
CALIFORNIA FOR ALL - YOUR ACTIONS SAVE LIVES
STAY HOME
See the empty Pacific Street in the photo above? That tells a significant story. A story we can be proud of. It says we are doing our part, being responsible, and listening to what the experts are saying we have to do to flatten the curve of this pandemic. Together we are meeting the challenge head on! Keep it up - we are at the beginning and not yet done!

STAY HOME AND SHELTER IN PLACE IS THE SAME THING
The County issued news today to help clarify, and explained that the County order to Shelter in Place is the same as the State order to Stay at Home. "They are different titles for the same important action to safeguard everyone in our community."

If you have questions about what you should do while the order is in place and what are the best ways to protect yourself and others from COVID-19, there are several County options available for information:

  • The Monterey County Health Department COVID-19 web page is continuously updated with news, information and data: www.mtyhd.org/covid19
  • A new information hotline is 831-755-4521. Staffed Mon - Fri, 8 am to 5 pm.
  • Email your questions to COVID-19@co.monterey.ca.us

Lastly, the City remains dedicated to leading our community through this and will continue important steps on many fronts in a cohesive effort with many local partners.
