COVID-19 Local Update

Governor Newsom announced new restrictions today of indoor operations for a number of businesses statewide and additional restrictions for some 30 counties as the number of  COVID-19  cases in California continues to rise. Monterey County was included in the County Monitoring List, and must close the following operations until further notice:
In response to Governor Newsom’s order issued today, the Monterey Sports Center is closed until further notice . All memberships have been frozen and will be extended for the appropriate amount of time. We hope to be back soon! Thank you for your continued support and understanding. Follow the Sports Center and City of Monterey on social media and visit montereysportscenter.org for updates.
City of Monterey has partnered with the local food bank to help residents in need during these difficult times. Just a month ago, we distributed produce boxes to 88 families. Today, we were able to provide for 174 families ! Thank you to the donors, volunteers and City staff who have made this program possible.

Reservations are still available for the  July 2020 Senior and Family Produce Distributions  offered by City of Monterey Recreation and the Monterey County Food Bank. Due to COVID19, this is a contact-less drive thru program and reservations are required.

TIME:  10:30am – 1:00pm (by appointment/reservation only; every half hour)
LOCATION:  Dennis the Menace Parking Lot, 777 Pearl St. Monterey

Attn local restaurants: Monterey County Hospitality Association is hosting a Zoom webinar on Friday, July 17 at 10AM: RESTAURANT STATE PROTOCOLS & CUSTOMER SERVICE TRAINING FOR ALL EMPLOYEES

Take the opportunity during the "roll back" of restaurant service to train your employees to deliver the Hospitality Protocols required by the state and county. This Webinar trains employees to effectively implement safety protocols to protect guests, themselves and associates along with customer service training related to COVID-19.  Training materials will be provided as well as a certification opportunity. Open to all employees,.
