COVID-19 Local Update

Governor Newsom announced new restrictions today of indoor operations for a number of businesses statewide and additional restrictions for some 30 counties as the number of  COVID-19  cases in California continues to rise. Monterey County was included in the County Monitoring List, and must close the following operations until further notice:
In response to Governor Newsom’s order issued today, the Monterey Sports Center is closed until further notice . All memberships have been frozen and will be extended for the appropriate amount of time. We hope to be back soon! Thank you for your continued support and understanding. Follow the Sports Center and City of Monterey on social media and visit for updates.
City of Monterey has partnered with the local food bank to help residents in need during these difficult times. Just a month ago, we distributed produce boxes to 88 families. Today, we were able to provide for 174 families ! Thank you to the donors, volunteers and City staff who have made this program possible.

Reservations are still available for the  July 2020 Senior and Family Produce Distributions  offered by City of Monterey Recreation and the Monterey County Food Bank. Due to COVID19, this is a contact-less drive thru program and reservations are required. 
DATE:  Mondays, July 20 and 27
TIME:  10:30am – 1:00pm (by appointment/reservation only; every half hour)
LOCATION:  Dennis the Menace Parking Lot, 777 Pearl St. Monterey
