COVID-19 UPDATES
Amended Emergency Order to Close Beaches Over Labor Day Holiday
Order of the Director of Emergency Services (Monterey City Manager) Issuing Temporary and Limited Closure of McAbee and San Carlos Beaches from August 22, 2020 Through September 22, 2020 and All Beaches on Labor Day Weekend to Prevent the Spread of COVID-19 (Amended August 24, 2020) - The emergency order was amended to include Friday of the Labor Day holiday. Ocean activities will still be allowed. Thank you for helping us get control of the spread of COVID-19 in our community. The sooner we do that the better for the health of our residents, and for our local economy.
The Party Can Wait, Including this Labor Day Long Weekend
We all want to see friends and family, especially on holidays, like the Labor Day long weekend in less than two weeks. The Labor Day celebration began in 1882 in New York City. Labor Day is dedicated to the social and economic achievements of American workers. It constitutes a yearly national tribute to the contributions workers have made to the strength, prosperity, and well-being of our country.

Labor Day is even more inspiring this year, as we want to get past the pandemic and back to work. Let's break the chain of infection by doing our part so that can happen. Say "NO" to large crowds. The party can wait.
