PROCEDURES FOR STUDENTS/PERSONNEL - COVID-19
(Approved by Dr. Gary Voccio, Dade County Health Department)

1. Definition of EXPOSED: This means you were closer than 6 feet to someone who tested positive for COVID-19 and you didn't have a mask on and you were closer than 6 feet for more than 15 minutes.

2. IF you were EXPOSED to someone COVID-19 POSITIVE, then you must quarantine for 14 DAYS and should be tested on the 10th day.  

3. IF YOU TEST POSITIVE FOR COVID-19, you should ISOLATE at home for a minimum of 10 days and 24 hours without symptoms and fever free without fever reducing medications. This means you may be isolated longer than 10 days.  

4. Dr. Voccio reminds us to be vigilant about hand washing with soap and water, social distancing and wearing a mask/face shield.

WHO MAKES THE DETERMINATION REGARDING LEAVE? Employees should contact their principal or direct supervisor when issues arise. The supervisor/principal, nurse, HR rep and superintendent will work collaboratively with DPH to advise.  
BUS REGISTRATION
Our biggest challenge will be transportation. It will not be feasible to expect six foot social distancing in this environment. Therefore, students will be expected to wear a mask on the bus. We will do everything we can to provide a healthy environment for our students.

Students will have two school options: 1) Traditional School (Five days a week) or 2) Virtual Learning. (Schools PLP for elementary students and APEX for secondary students)

The plan for Reopening Dade County Schools was presented on July 8, 2020.

Dade County Schools will resume normal operations on August 13th while adhering to the recommendations made by the Georgia Department of Education and the Georgia Department of Public Health in their jointly-released Georgia’s Path to Recovery for K-12 Schools where practical.

Dade County is implementing health and safety protocols as recommended by the CDC.
The American Academy of Pediatrics strongly advocates that "all policy considerations for the coming school year should start with a goal of having students physically present in school.”
