Partnership with Ulster County to Address Hunger

  In collaboration with Ulster County government, United Way has helped launch Project Resilience, which distributes 1,500 meals per day to 22 municipalities in Ulster County in cooperation with 128 local restaurants and food service providers. Click to: request a meal , become a food provider , or donate to Project Resilience .
United Way's Essential Employees Continue to Serve

As “essential employees” three United Way staff members have been in the office at 450 Albany Avenue providing financial assistance through our Emergency and Homelessness Prevention Fund to local residents in need of immediate rental assistance, fuel oil, hot water, car repairs, wireless service, baby formula, prescription drugs, and more.

We are also educating community members via phone and e-mail about the newly established federal relief programs.

KUDOS to Tax Volunteers
Our tax team completed tax returns virtually for the 30 individuals that had been scheduled for tax appointments on March 14 and March 21. This is especially important considering the fact that having filed a 2019 tax return is essential to receiving federal aid.
Raising HOPE Staff Continues One-to-One Support Through Crisis
Raising HOPE staff continues to provide one-to-one support to participants in our women’s mentoring program, through regular phone, digital, and email communications, as well as virtual workshops like, “Why Change is Hard... Even for the Best of Us: How to Leverage the Human Condition to Make Shifts in Your Life That Matter!” with motivational speaker, entrepreneur, and Raising HOPE mentor, Renee Gambino, or “Conscious Living: Managing Stress from the Inside Out” with renowned Ulster County healer, Nancy Plumer. For more information on these and other virtual workshops visit Raising HOPE Facebook.
United Way's Emergency and Homelessness Prevention Fund
We are working closely with local immigrant groups to ensure that their members, who have little or no income as a result of the COVID-19 crisis, and may not be eligible for federal aid, are aware of our Emergency and Homelessness Prevention Fund to ensure their families have access to food and shelter.
Census 2020 Continues
We hope to continue with our Census 2020 initiative as soon as possible to help ensure that hard to reach populations, including those who are low income, disabled, and immigrants, complete their census forms because of the impact it has on federal aid to assist the most vulnerable populations in our community.
