Village Working With Grocery Stores to Ensure Safe Practices Are Followed

Community Development staff is working with Buffalo Grove grocery stores to ensure they are taking all proactive steps to ensure shoppers can practice safe social distancing. Businesses are encouraged to provide sanitary wipes to clean commonly used surfaces, as well as hands, in addition to other precautions recommended by the Illinois Department of Public Health. Ensure Elderly Neighbors

Are Safe and Sound

Residents are asked to check on elderly, or at-risk neighbors during this extended Stay at Home order, to ensure they are safe and have enough supplies. Both local townships that serve Buffalo Grove residents provide services for elderly residents. Remember to Bag Your Trash

Due to the growing number of people staying at home, the volume of trash that Waste Management is collecting has also increased. Please help crews by placing all trash in trash bags, and seal the bags before setting them out for collection. Please note: Latex gloves belong in the trash and not in recycling containers.

Golf Courses Remain Closed to the Public

The Buffalo Grove and Arboretum golf courses remain closed to the public due to the Illinois Governor's Executive Order. Residents are reminded they should not go on the golf course. The maintenance contractor is currently working on both golf courses in the event the Governor’s order is lifted.

Watch Out for COVID-19 Scams

Scammers are making phone calls posing as health care workers or companies offering COVID-19 tests. In many cases, they are offering to obtain tests for people or to help them get test results quicker. Those that are contacted by scammers are asked to pay in cash, or provide personal identifying information to receive the tests or results.

As a reminder, the Lake County Health Department, Illinois Department of Public Health, and Centers for Disease Control and Prevention will not send an employee to the home of a person to sell a COVID-19 test. Only high-risk individuals are being tested in Illinois, and that must be arranged through a healthcare provider.
