The confirmed + probable case burden continues to remain high in our jurisdiction. The confirmed + probable case rate over the past 2 weeks for our jurisdiction is 139.8 cases per 100,000 people, which is stable with the case rate of 140.5 cases per 100,000 people reported last week. The number of cases (confirmed/probable) in the first week of this 2-week timeframe was 90/17 and for this most recent week was 86/22.

-
Anyone who feels they need a COVID test should get a test. Anyone with symptoms, with known exposure as well as those without symptoms but feel they have a need for a test should get tested. Testing resources are plentiful and the CDC encourages widespread testing to identify asymptomatic cases so measures can be taken to avoid the spread of COVID-19. Sunnyview Expo Center PCR test results have a quick turnaround. Department of Health Services is also offering at-home saliva sample collection kits to test for current COVID-19 infection.
-
Wisconsin Department of Health Services encourages everyone age 16 and older to schedule a COVID-19 vaccination appointment. Anyone that lives, works, or studies in Wisconsin can get vaccinated for free—even if you cannot provide proof of residency, do not have a valid state identification, or do not have insurance. Visit www.wcvaccine.org to find a vaccine near you. Pfizer is the only vaccine currently available for 16 and 17 year-olds. Not all locations administer vaccines to those under 18 as not all carry Pfizer. When you do get vaccinated, please see these tips.

Fully vaccinated travelers are less likely to get and spread COVID-19. CDC recommends delaying travel until you are fully vaccinated, because travel increases your chance of getting and spreading COVID-19. People who are fully vaccinated with an FDA-authorized vaccine or a vaccine authorized for emergency use by the World Health Organization can travel safely within the United States. Fully vaccinated travelers do not need to get tested before or after travel unless their destination requires it. Fully vaccinated travelers do not need to self-quarantine, but should still follow CDC’s recommendations for travel, including:
- Wear a mask over your nose and mouth
- Stay 6 feet from others and avoid crowds
- Wash your hands often or use hand sanitizer
-
Essential workers like police officers, firefighters, and people working in education, child care centers, and grocery stores maintain the services and functions that we all depend on daily. CDC designed a toolkit to help employers educate essential workers about COVID-19 vaccines, raise awareness about the benefits of vaccination, and address common questions and concerns.
-
Winnebago County Health Department will be offering free walk-in COVID-19 vaccination clinics at Sunnyview Expo Center (500 E County Road Y, Oshkosh, WI). Appointments are NOT required.
- Every Wednesday in May from 1pm-6pm. Vaccination is open to all individuals aged 18 and older. The clinic will be administering the Johnson & Johnson vaccine, which is a 1-dose vaccination (subject to vaccine availability).
- May 11th and 13th from 8am-3:45pm. Vaccination is open to all individuals aged 18 and older. The two clinics will be administering the Moderna vaccine, which is a 2-dose vaccination.
