Make vaccines easier for your littles! Whether you are getting your child vaccinated against COVID-19 or the flu, getting a shot can be unnerving for children. Preparing them before, during, and after their vaccine can help ensure their comfort during the process. Being honest as well as providing extra hugs and reassurance can go a long way when it comes to vaccines and children. Click the picture for tips or visit the CDC's site for more information.
Help track your COVID-19 vaccine with v-Safe! v-safe is an app you can download to your phone that provides personalized and confidential health check-ins via text messages and web surveys so you can quickly and easily share with the CDC how you or your dependent feel after getting a COVID-19 vaccine. During the first week after each vaccination, v-safe will send you a text message each day to ask how you are feeling. After that, you will receive occasional check-ins, which you can opt out of at any time. Depending on your answers, someone from CDC may call to get more information. Your personal information in v-safe is protected so it’s safe and private. Sign up with your smartphone’s browser at vsafe.cdc.gov.
What is the Novavax vaccine we keep hearing about? The Novavax vaccine is a COVID-19 vaccine that was granted emergency authorization from the World Health Organization and the European Union. This two-dose vaccine for those 18 years and older is currently being used in more than 40 countries. The FDA’s advisory committee met in June to review data from clinical trials and voted to recommend emergency use authorization and the FDA is still undergoing an extended review of the vaccine’s manufacturing and distribution process. If the FDA and CDC both accept the recommendation, Novavax may become the fourth COVID-19 vaccine available in the United States. For more information click here.

Car seats and boosters provide protection for infants and children in a crash, yet car crashes are a leading cause of death for children ages 1 to 13. It's important to choose and use the right car seat correctly every time your child is in the car. Installing a car seat for younger children and babies can be a challenge. Make sure you have installed your car seat correctly by getting it checked at a Car Seat Safety event or making an appointment with the Oshkosh Fire Department.
