COVID-19 UPDATE -- Chief Justice Beasley Issues New Orders and Emergency Directives Staying Evictions and Extending Filing Deadlines
Over the weekend, Chief Justice Beasley issued three new emergency orders and directives impacting court operations across North Carolina. The orders extend several existing emergency directives, extend the time for filing a notice of appeal, stay all pending evictions and create a mediation program for evictions. Chief Justice Beasley’s order extends the deadline for filing a notice of appeal to June 30, 2020, for any case in which the deadline for appeal fell between March 16 and June 1, 2020.
