National Cheeseburger Day

There are many ways to make a cheeseburger. Try something new and exciting like a Reuben Cheeseburger, or get a classic at your favorite restaurant or drive-thru.

Cheeseburger day is celebrated annually on the 18th of September. This celebration of one of the most iconic and delicious foods of the USA, has been taking place every year since the early part of the Roaring 20s era.

While its plain cousin, the hamburger was likely invented somewhere around 1900 in the United States, it is believed that putting the cheese on top didn’t enter the picture until 1924.

NO CHANGES IN COVID STATUS

COVID REMAINS WIDESPREAD AT THIS TIME, AS DR. OSTERHOLM SAYS WE ARE ON THE ‘HIGH PLATEAU’….…BUT IT CONTINUES TO DECLINE…. WELL BELOW MAXIMUM LEVELS. WE WILL CONTINUE TO SEE HIGH CASE LEVELS FOR SOME TIME.

BOOSTER COVID VACCINATIONS:

THE NEW COVID VACCINE WILL BE BIVALENT…. THIS MEANS IT WILL CONTAIN THE ORIGINAL VACCINE COVERAGE…. PLUS, COVERAGE MORE SPECIFICALLY FOR BA4 & BA5 FORMS OF COVID.

GIVEN THE SAFETY OF THE VACCINE, IT IS REASONABLE FOR EVERY ADULT TO CONSIDER THIS BOOSTER…BUT….

How are these new bivalent vaccines different?

There's a new kind of Covid-19 shot coming to a pharmacy or clinic near you.

The US Food and Drug Administration and US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention signed off on updated boosters that target the original strain of the coronavirus as well as the Omicron subvariants BA.4 and BA.5. The hope is that these shots will improve protection against the currently circulating viruses that cause Covid-19.

End of Covid-19 Pandemic Is In Sight, WHO Director-General Says,

'So Let's Seize This Opportunity'

The world has never been in a better position to end the Covid-19 pandemic, Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, director-general of the World Health Organization, said in a news briefing in Geneva on Wednesday.

“Last week, the number of weekly reported deaths from Covid-19 was the lowest since March 2020,” he said. “We have never been in a better position to end the pandemic. We’re not there yet, but the end is in sight.

“A marathon runner does not stop when the finish line comes into view; she runs harder with all the energy she has left,” Tedros said. “So must we. We can see the finish line, we are in a winning position, but now is the worst time to stop running. Now is the time to run harder and make sure we cross the line and reap the rewards of all our hard work.”

There is still a risk of more variants, deaths, disruption and uncertainty, he said, “so let’s seize this opportunity.”

Mask Policy in Our Office

At our office, we are continuing to follow CDC guidelines and will strive for ways to keep our patients and staff safe.

We recommend that all unvaccinated and vaccinated patients and visitors entering our office cover their nose and mouth at all times.

To prevent further spread of the Delta & Omicron variants, the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention updated its mask guidance on March 21, 2022, to recommend that fully vaccinated people wear masks when in areas with “substantial” and “high” transmission of Covid-19.

We have a limited supply of paper masks and will make these available to patients while they last, however, we encourage you to bring your own facial covering.
