Small Group Communication students serve the community -- from home
When classes had to quickly move to an online format, Communication instructor Kelly Glass offered her students
an alternative assignment: they could write a paper in lieu of the community service project. The students, however, decided they would rather try their best and make an impact in their community. "
They were willing in uncertain circumstances to do something admirable… they were prioritizing the impact they could have in their community over their grade."
Here are two exemplary examples of their projects:
- Group 1: Creating a Public Service Announcement for autism awareness. The finalized PSA will get posted on all six team members social media sites with a fundraiser link to benefit Hope Services.
- Group 2: Completed a needs assessment at the Compassion Center and are creating hygiene bags with necessities for community members in needs. They have already gotten $125 donated from Costco that will go toward purchasing these products. They have crafted and sent out over 10 donation letters in our community.
It is an incredible feeling to see these young and profoundly loving students, desire to help others.
