Stress Relief

  • Supportive relationships: Maintain supportive relationships wherever you can, including virtually.
  • Exercise: Engage in 60 minutes of physical activity every day, if you can. It doesn’t have to be all at one time.  
  • Sleep: Get sufficient, high-quality sleep. This may be particularly hard right now, but going to sleep and waking up at the same time each day can help. 
  • Nutrition: Ensure you are getting proper nutrition to help combat stress. 
  • Mental health supportResources available here.
  • Mindfulness: Practice mindfulness in whatever way works best for you. This could be things like meditation, yoga, or prayer for 20 minutes, two times a day.

Drive-through Food Distribution served 300 families

Pictured above this morning, Gavilan College staff preparing to distribute food. Each car that drove up got three boxes, placed directly into their trunk. The college is hoping to schedule additional food distributions.

  • STATUS: All locations of Gavilan College are closed. All instruction and services will be provided in an online format through the end of Spring semester. Summer Session will be entirely online.

  • NEW - Gov. Gavin Newsom today gave an update on the state’s response to the COVID-19 pandemic. (All daily news conferences are streamed live at noon on his Twitter page and the California Governor Facebook page.) 
  • NEW - This week is National Public Health Week 2020. This year’s theme is “Looking Back, Moving Forward”. During each day of National Public Health Week, a public health topic is selected with a COVID-19 message. For more information, live chats, webinars, and how you can get involved, visit NPHW2020.




  • California Community Colleges faculty, staff and administrators can join the CCC | COVID-19 Resources, Tools and Discussion community in the Vision Resource Center to stay informed on developments and ask questions.
  • Emergency Preparedness Resources web site for assistance converting in-person classes to online. Several webinars are scheduled to help during this transition.
