GAVILAN COLLEGE:
NEWThe Gavilan College Board of Trustees yesterday approved a Proclamation of Emergency for Gavilan Joint Community College District.
NEW The Gavilan College Educational Foundation has launched a Student Emergency Fund to assist students impacted by the pandemic and shut-down. A fundraising appeal is underway
All locations of Gavilan College are closed to staff and students
All instruction and services have been transitioned to an online format
NEW The U.S. has ordered a 60-day freeze on overseas troop movement due to pandemic. All U.S. service members overseas or scheduled to deploy will stay in their current locations.
NEWGov. Newsom announced today that several major banks and other financial institutions have agreed to delay foreclosures and provide mortgage relief to California homeowners struggling to make their monthly payments during the pandemic.
NEW Governor Newsom issued an executive order directing the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation to temporarily halt the intake and/or transfer of inmates and youth into the state’s 35 prison facilities and four youth correctional facilities. Read the full executive order here.

NEW The California Community Colleges Accessibility Center will be hosting another set of webinars this week focusing on accessibility practices for Canvas and online teaching. The sessions will occur twice a day (10:00 – 11:00 a.m. and 3:00 – 4:00 p.m.) tomorrow and Thursday. All sessions will use the same Zoom meeting information.
Financial Assistance Program for Low – Income Residents impacted by COVID-19. All Low-Income Santa Clara County residents who are experiencing a loss can apply, (ie. Homeowners, renters, folks living in RV’s, in hotels, etc.) This program can provide up to $4,000 per family per month during the COVID-19 event.
