This afternoon, The Province announced the mandatory closure of all non-essential workplaces to further contain the spread of COVID-19, effective Tuesday, March 24
at 11:59PM, for 14 days with the possibility of extending this order as the situation evolves. A full list of businesses that are permitted to stay open will be released tomorrow.
It is not yet clear how this will affect Construction Sites. In the press conference, the Premiere did warn construction companies to “get your act together” about making worksites safe and further said that if workers don't feel safe, they should “leave the site and don't come back.”
Attorney General Sylvia Jones said that policing partners will enforce mandatory business closures “if and when necessary." The complete News Release is below.
