Construction Owner and Developer Survey: COVID19’s Influence Today, Tomorrow & Beyond
A recent survey of Canadian and U.S. senior executives in construction’s owners and developer space has found that that construction project owners have taken a number of actions in response to COVID-19, and indicated which changes they feel might last.

What is the real impact of COVID-19 on activity in the construction sector?
How long do owners and developers think it will take to return to pre-COVID productivity?
What long term changes do industry leaders expect to see emerge from this crisis?

Here's a couple excerpts from the data:
The 41 respondents said they’d taken the following actions:
  • 49% readjusted project cost projections
  • 41% established staggered jobsite schedules to allow for social distancing
  • 80% created new procedures
  • 44% shutdown some project job sites completely
  • 90% found it important to implement work-from-home scenarios

There are, however, cases cited in medical journals - including one from 2011 of a health-care worker who was burned when she lit a cigarette after using hand sanitizer.
