Dear Morris Township Residents:

The Morris Township Health Department has informed Morris Township Administration that two of our residents have tested positive for the 2019 Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19). Our thoughts are with these residents and their families at this time. Our health professionals are at the ready to provide these individuals the resources they need to ensure a speedy recovery.

The impacted residents are two males, one who is 66 and the other who is 70 years of age. Neither of the individuals has been hospitalized and both have experienced only mild symptoms. They are recovering well at home and will remain at home until they are fully recovered.

The Health Department is currently working to conduct a thorough investigation to identify other individuals with whom the patients may have come in contact. Officials will then contact any potentially exposed individuals in order to provide them necessary support and guidance.

Morris Township is a strong community, but these confirmed cases are a reminder to all that we are not immune to current public health concerns. All residents should take deliberate and proactive efforts to flatten the curve of virus transmission by practicing social distancing and limiting higher-risk plans, like using public transportation, traveling, or attending large gatherings. Other guidelines include: washing your hands frequently, avoiding touching your eyes, nose, and mouth, avoiding people who are sick, staying home if you are sick, covering your mouth and nose with a tissue when you cough or sneeze or use the inside of your elbow, throwing used tissues in the trash, and cleaning and disinfecting frequently touched surfaces daily.

It is critical that anyone with questions seek appropriate guidance and medical care at the direction of primary care physicians. Be sure to visit the Township’s Coronavirus Update page for the latest news and information from federal, state, and local resources. Residents are also encouraged to sign up for our Municipal Messenger and check Facebook for the latest news and updates from the Township of Morris. Furthermore, if residents have specific questions, you can email them to administration@morristwp.com

Please continue to support one another during a challenging time for our local, state, and national communities. Be certain to follow recommendations from the Centers for Disease Control, the New Jersey Department of Health and the Township of Morris.

We ask everyone to please be patient as we continue to work to provide accurate information to the public. Stay well and we will all get through this challenging situation together. Be on the lookout for further communications from your governing body in the near future.

Thank you for your patience and cooperation.
