A Message from Kent County Sheriff Michelle LaJoye-Young

Kent County Sheriff Michelle LaJoye-Young is encouraging individuals to use a community mindset when deciding whether to attend Easter Sunday service. Although there is no penalty under Gov. Whitmer's executive order for church gatherings, the Sheriff is encouraging individuals to follow the Governor's recommendation not to gather and to remember how important their role is in reducing the spread of COVID-19. Don't Go Out, Reach Out!

Network180, Forest View Psychiatric Hospital and Pine Rest Christian Mental Health Services have joined forces to help those struggling with mental health or substance use during the COVID-19 pandemic.

The “Don’t Go Out – Reach Out” campaign is encouraging individuals to contact one of their agencies for help rather than visit a local emergency department. Our area emergency departments are under great strain treating people with COVID-19 so it is important to preserve our medical infrastructure.

Network180, Forest View and Pine Rest are open 24/7 and ready to provide services via phone or tele-health to anyone in crisis. Help begins by picking up the phone:

  • Network180: (616) 336-3909
  • Forest View: (800) 949-8439
  • Pine Rest: (800) 678-5500 or (616) 455-9200

In the event of a life-threatening crisis, on-site assessments are also available.
Coming Next Week . . .

We will be launching a new web-based health screening app. This anonymous data collection tool will ask you a few simple questions which will provide health officials with valuable information on the next potential COVID-19 " hot spot." Stay tuned for more details in our next newsletter!
