Dear Life Unlimited Family, Guardians, and Friends,
In response to the recent coronavirus updates and in keeping with local, state, and federal recommendations, Life Unlimited has decided to limit the exposure of our residents to community members and the virus.
The following protocols will be put in place
effective Wednesday, March 18
at 5 p.m.:
- Only essential employees will be allowed into any of our residential homes. We had already limited community outings over the last few days in response to the coronavirus outbreak, but effective Wednesday, we will also restrict outside community members from coming into the home, including family and visitors. Our program management has been working with our home teams to identify other methods of communication and connection for our individuals, including FaceTime and video conference calls.
- All individuals who reside in our residential homes will not be allowed to participate in congregate community day service or workshop services with the exception of community employment. Many of the local day programs and workshops have already informed participants they are closing effective Wednesday or Thursday of this week. Even if your individual attends a program that remains open, they will not be allowed to continue to attend the program and reside in the home for their safety and the safety of their roommates. If you have concerns about this decision and want your individual to continue to attend day services after Wednesday, please contact Amy Taylor so we can begin to explore other residential options for your individual.
Our teams continue to discuss and amend our response to the coronavirus daily to ensure we are providing the best care and ensuring the safety of all individuals we serve. These decisions outlined above were difficult to make, but were made from the knowledge that limited exposure to the virus over the next few weeks is one of the best preventive measures we can employ at this time.
