Dear Y members,

It has been a very challenging week. We understand that many of you have valid questions regarding your membership. Our goal is to answer each of your questions and ease any concerns that you may have.

Your membership will not be compromised and you will not be financially penalized due to our forced temporary closure.

As you know, the Y is a non-profit organization that has been a part of our community for over 100 years. It is a very special place that plays a pivotal role in the lives of our members where they gather, connect with one another and exercise their minds, bodies and spirits. Your membership dues and fees support the Y and are required for us to run the crucial programs and services we offer, especially to those most vulnerable in our community. 

We are greatly affected by this difficult and challenging time and n ow, more than ever, we need your support to help sustain the Y so that we can continue to be the place where everyone gathers and belongs in our community. 

We are very grateful for your membership and do not take it for granted. In order to compensate you, adjustments will be applied to your membership once we re-open. The amount will be calculated based on the number of total days closed. If you have paid your membership in full, you will receive a credit towards your renewal. 

In lieu of adjusting your membership, if you are able to continue your payments, this would greatly help the Y mitigate the financial impact of these unprecedented circumstances. Because you wouldn’t be receiving services in exchange for your payments, this will be considered a tax-deductible contribution to ensure the sustainability of our   Y. If you chose to donate, we will be issuing a tax receipt based on the adjusted pro-rated amount once we know how long we will be closed. Please send an email to

As we continue to prioritize health and wellness, we are working on creative ways to stay connected with our members. Now more than ever, it’s important for all of us to take care of ourselves. To this end, we have already started sharing basic workout programs that you can follow from the comfort of your home. Our goal is to bring you simple ways to stay active during this time of social distancing.
