Local emergency declaration extended through May 8
Outdoor dining encouraged
Upon consultation with Mayor Jen Ahearn-Koch and City Attorney Bob Fournier, City Manager Tom Barwin extended the local public health emergency for one week through Friday, May 8. The City Commission will review the emergency declaration and options to help small businesses during its regular meeting Monday, May 4.

The emergency order allows certain provisions in the City's Zoning Code to be temporarily relaxed to encourage and facilitate outdoor dining possibilities due to indoor occupancy restrictions.

Gov. Ron DeSantis' statewide executive order requires restaurants to limit their indoor capacity to 25 percent of building occupancy. Allowing more outdoor seating with the appropriate social distancing may help restaurants and their patrons begin the recovery phase of the pandemic in the city limits.
