Dear River Forest Residents,

Today is Earth Day, and a great time to recognize all of the ‘green’ efforts that are occurring throughout our Village. Thank you to our Sustainability Commission members who are leading this charge by working every day to provide resources and opportunities for our residents to preserve our environment, and make River Forest a model community for sustainability! Please see a number of articles below relating to these efforts that include helpful tips and information from our Sustainability Commission.

At the April 26 Village Board meeting, the members of our newly established Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) Ad Hoc Advisory Group will be announced. These individuals represent yet another group of generous residents who are volunteering their time and talents to continually strengthen our community - and who will help to ensure it is a welcoming place for all.

The latest information about COVID-19 and vaccines is also provided below, in addition to resources available on the Village website about our new Bicycle Plan, and our weekly business spotlight.

Thank you for reading our weekly E-News!

Sincerely,
Cathy Adduci, Village President

It's Earth Day!
Today is Earth Day! Our planet is an amazing place, but it needs our help to thrive! That’s why each year on April 22, more than a billion people celebrate Earth Day, which supports the protection of our planet. By taking part in green activities — like picking up litter and planting trees, we can make our world a happier and healthier place to live.

River Forest residents are encouraged to celebrate Mother Earth in some way on this special day, and every day. Read on below for 10 easy and fun Earth Day ideas!

Sixty-four leftover bikes, plus accessories, were donated to Working Bikes, and an additional $900 will be donated to the Seven Generations Ahead's "It's Our Future" program.
